Quick Tips

One of the key recommendations for a stay here is to really make the most of the strategic touring base that it functions as. Excellent road access and free parking at the hotel make for the best possible launchpad from which to go forth and explore all the wonders of Lake Maggiore. A day trip you must do is to visit the famous Borromean Islands. You can drive to Stresa, leave your car there and get around to the magnificent palaces and gardens of Isola Bella and Isola Madre by public ferry.

One of the best ways to milk the apartment-style lodging is to stop at a big local supermarket (we used Esselunga in nearby Castelletto sopra Ticino) on your way into the hotel. Load up on yummy local Italian fare: pasta, pesto, regional cheeses, and a bottle of Nebbiolo wine from Piedmont. That way, after visiting the sights, it’s not so stressful to cook up an authentic Italian dinner in your kitchenette and then enjoy it out on your private balcony.

For a great night out without having to drive for ages, take a leisurely 10-minute walk to the Doppio Malto brewery. This is no ordinary pub; it’s a huge, bustling place that houses an astronomically varied selection of in-house craft brews and a high-flying food menu to match. It’s quite a hit with the locals, and is a fun place to spend an evening; thereby negating the need to drive into the busier town centers for a good meal and great ambience.

And for those who enjoyc some nature and historyc they likec exploring the Lagoni di Mercurago Natural Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site which lies just a few minutes by car from the hotel. This fenced off region has got ancient archaeological sites of prehistoric pile-dwellings, beautiful.w woods and pastures where one can spot horses grazing. It provides an excellent and tranquil contrast to the busy lakeside towns and is a perfect spot for one’s quiet walk or even a picnic.
